After reading this chapter a concept that really caught my
attention is the advertisements area. I never really paid much attention to all
the ways of advertising. With famous people they are considered walking advertisements
even with normal people. With celebrities the clothes, shoe and jewelry they
wear inspire people like me to try and copy their fashion sense. When watching
television shows they show who sponsors that show and even the network it is
on. Advertiser use false information in order to pursued others. The proactive
commercial is a great example of false advertisement because they use
celebrities to pursue you into buying their product. Proactive does not work
for everyone but they make you think that since Vanessa Williams uses it that
you need it too. When thinking of buying a product you see you should do research
on it because not everything works there is arguments can be very faulty. They advertisements
they use scare tactics, and the fallacies they use are questionable cause,
popular appeal, snob appeal, appeal to inappropriate authority, hasty
generalization, and amphiboly. These fallacies are what help draw you in.
