Sally ride was the first woman
astronaut to go to space. The ways that Ride exemplifies her critical thinking
skills is by distinctly enunciating and developing strategies to meet her
goals. In the textbook it states that the characteristics of a good critical
thinker is having analytical
skills, communication skills, being well informed and having good research
techniques. You also have to be flexible and be able to tolerate ambiguity, be open-minded
and be a good problem solver. When Sally was in college she knew that to be
successful she needed to work on her communication skills so she focused on her
writing and listening skills. Ride’s communication skill was so good that she
got to participate as Capcom for the first and second shuttle flights. Ride is
a great critical thinker she proved it because she evaluated her skills. After reading
page 7 in chapter one Ride exemplifies all the characteristics of a good
critical thinker.
I agree on your point of view regarding Sally Ride's characteristics of critical thinking including the examples you gave for support. I think she can be one of the best examples of a perfect critical thinker. She demonstrated good communication skills and exemplified sharp research and inquiry skills. She used these skills to help further her future and help others to learn these skills as well. She was able to do this through writing children’s books, working eagerly in school and continuing to be an open and avid learner. It is also obvious that she exhibited these skills because she became successful women in our country. She was the youngest and first female astronaut.
